People often ask me, how I have started blogging. I often answered via direct message, comment or email, but I think it’ll make more sense, if I answer your questions in a blogpost.
I want to make a serie of those kinds of blogposts under the name of “Insights”. Insights of Designdschungel:) I want to tell you more about me, my life and Designdschungel. But let’s start from the beginning:
How I have started with blogging
After a few months or one/two years as a private account on Instagram, I always have thought about, how it would be if I have my own blog. At this time I already followed the “old stager” Vicky Wanka and other bloggers, who inspired me. Beginning of 2014, I began with my master thesis in architecture and because I had so much time (not). Beside my bachelor and my master, I already worked in different architecture offices and I also did several internships in architecture, interior and public relation departments. I also worked as a student assistant in structural design at the “HafenCity” University. My life revolves around architecture. So when I thought about, how I can set myself apart from the other students and noticed, that I was one of a few at this university, who was interested in fashion. During university, I’ve always rate my interest about fashion as a disadvantage. But why shouldn’t I turn this interest into a benefit? Because exactly things like this make you stand out from others, right? I could work very well in architecture departments, where other student wouldn’t know a thing about it. So I began to think about how I can create a benefit for application procedures at architecture offices with my interest in fashion and architecture.
My idea about the Blog
Because I already had an instagram profile, I got the idea of an own blog. There were already many bloggers that time, but no one, who connected those two components. Even when many friends and my family told me, that I definitely shouldn’t start a blog, I did it anyway. I tried not to be daunted by everyone, I just believed in this idea and knew, that it will be so much fun. After a serious consideration I finally came to the conclusion, to create a blog under the name of “Designdschungel”. “Design” stands for fashion and architecture and “dschungel” for urban jungle, fashion metropolises and skyscraper. At this time it didn’t bothered me, that the name was a bit complicated:)
Blogstart with Blogspot
My blog was hosted by Blogspot, a provider, who you didn’t need to pay for.
In fact I didn’t really know where the path is leading, I contented myself with this domain for free and began to upload blog posts on Designdschungel. Nowadays I actually wouldn’t recommend this, I’m going to tell you more about it soon. I wrote texts and uploaded pictures about specific styles and topics. I had a lot of fun. Every day I took pictures of everything, which I was interested in and what my time approve besides the master thesis:
My own styles, trend pieces, architecture, interior and pictures about my life…
How it goes further at Designdschungel, how I created my blog, what I did for it and how I did it, that Designdschungel became what it is today… I’m going to tell you this and more in the next chapter of “Insights”. If you want to know specific things, you can just ask me your questions in the comments and I will try to answer them in my next post. xx Laura
